Frequently Asked Questions
We contact each other via phone or video call to iron out the details. At the event, I arrive at least 20 minutes early to get acquainted with the space and set up my area. Ideally, this is a cozy spot with some seating and a table. I’ll have some signs that show who I am and guide guests.
During the event, guests are invited to have their portrait drawn! I love drawing from life, but they can also have their photo taken if they don’t feel like sitting still (or want to get back to the dance floor!). I make a basic sketch with pencil for the first couple minutes, then I use an ink brush to lay in bold, expressive lines. I’ll typically display the portraits I’ve made throughout the event in one area, and the guests can take them home in an envelope at the end of the night. Alternatively, you can keep the portraits and send them out with thank you notes.
Can you draw all of the guests?
1
On average, a portrait takes me 5-10 minutes to complete. This depends on how many people are in each group, and if they’re moving around a lot. I also need to take breaks from time to time. If there are more people than I can complete that day, I can take photos of them and finish them at the studio.
What materials do you work with?
2
I start the sketch with watercolor pencil on thick, A5 paper. I finish the portrait with fountain pen ink and brush. After each one is completed, it needs a couple of minutes for the ink to dry before it can be handled.
How does payment work?
3
Once we agree on the details, I send you an invoice for 50% of the cost to reserve the date. The rest of the payment will be made after the event. In case of cancellation, see the Terms of Service for refunds.
